Statice

I follow the copper shadows
Of a moody night.
The night..yawns..wakeful
A blind stirring
Sleep flickers through dreams
Like the dip of a comet tail
When constellations define the ebon
Stars cavort a discotheque in the night screen..
A viburnum of words spill
Like gold roses in a statice bouquet
Time promises...an old promise
Time becomes a commandment of a forgotten future
When sorrow besieges..ruthless in its mystery
Fatal sometimes in its saga.
With viburnum of words,
I ask sorrow to liberate me
Sorrow looks at me with affection
And tells me, 'I love to devastate you'
My innocence begs to be liberated
From the shackles of boundaries..
My benchmark yells ' I never break'

  1. My dearest Y, this is breathtaking! I follow you in the night and inside the fatal time . The asking hurts, terrifies, purifies “I ask sorrow to liberate me/Sorrow looks at me with affection /And tells me, ‘I love to devastate you'” the entire poem is a big WOW!

  2. I get high on your words, — without smoke or powder.
Your poetry has no equal; your feeling goes beyond depth.
You are a book of endless breath with a story forever blowing me aloft.
    Why should I even land?

      1. When one receives such a gift and has the capacity to respond – even over clackings on plastic and seen phosphorically on a bland formerly blank screen – one must so as to thank the universe – and the author of such art. I wish only I had more time to read more of you more often and forget not the same with not just a small number of others who play in this garden whom you have – in your orbit or their own which unsurprisingly I find so near yours – that I could stay sated and encouraged. Why, I might even have time to try editing my scritch/slappings of fingertips’ pads upon the clacking clickety keys (almost wrote (Ceys) and thus say more shorter – to steal an apology from SL Clemens.

  3. Your words amaze me Yassy, to inquire how you do it would be another mysterious poem within itself. Sorrow looking at you with affection was genius, the play on that was brilliant…I love you mind my friend just as I love your work. ❤️🌹

      1. Mysterious joker , now may I know what the mystery is all about. Jokersherlock, locked in his own card mystery. Btw, I never did know how to play cards, that is dumb, so people say geeeez!

      2. Hahaha!! Yassy is more magical than mysterious and that’s a mystery lovely because magic is the real trick.😉. Playing cards is as easy as counting to ten, I’m sure with a quick lesson you could be a wizard….so I say. 🃏

      3. Hahaha, there are plenty of brains beyond those curls but I’m sure they won’t get lost. Like I said, the grounded ones are usually the founded ones, not lost.😉

  4. These lines: “A viburnum of words spill
Like gold roses in a statice bouquet”

It’s as if I was watching a surrealism film written and directed by you.
And by gosh, this whole poem itself is directed and filmed by you.

Heart, & soul in your creative process, Yassy. I miss you yassy. I’m back! 🙂

  5. Hi Yassy, I hope and trust you’re doing great. My return to your corner of the internet since my absence is awesome, I must confess. I’ve missed a lot and am catching up on your amazing poetry works now.
This you entitled “Statice” is one of a kind among recent contemporary poetry works, as it comprises of many elements that are significant forces related to nature (the night, stars, & time). You are awesome in putting the night, stars, time, sorrow, and jazzy flowering plants together to compel your notion in this amazing poetry work.
We can discuss those elements for ever, but you sprinkled them in bits to spice-up this poetry work, and you did that amazingly Yassy. More grease to your elbow, more ink to your pen, and I wish you more wisdom and inspiration for more remarkable poetry works. Stay blessed and keep up the good work.

      1. “Nature is a constant source of inspiration” that’s spot on. The earth and its fullness are products of Nature. Nature sustains us and aided our being in its perfect imperfections.
