Garden of solace

A place where butterflies, birds and bees
Hang out among the flowers and the trees.
perfume of blossoms invade senses
redolent breeze fragrance dispenses.

squirrels, rabbits, scurry in the glen,
frolicking in this flowery den,
sipping dew, cracking nuts, nibbling leaves
overhead, branches, green crochet weaves.

scentless velvety Kangaroo Paw
Lesser Calandine's heart shaped leaves draw
gasps, as Tiger Lily rears its head
Wax flowers' delicate aroma spread.

Welcome to my private sanctuary
Find solace in nature's pageantry.

  3. Paradise! In the cold, wet East Coast Canadian morning, your garden has given me sanctuary, delighting the senses, keeping me warm. I love your descriptions and comparisons, Yassermaid. You are in touch, not only with what is within you, but with your surroundings as well. I don’t know if I say this enough, but I truly love your poetry and feel blessed to be able to read it.

    1. Now, that is a compliment that is going to see me through this weekend. It’s cold here too, the rains have cooled the earth.

      5. I cleaned the end table where my coffee and toast sit and moved a blanket from my chair. That’s enough cleaning for me, today 🙂
