Dappled shadows

On soundless feet, he stalks his prey
Camouflage gives reinforcement
Environment helps him slay
Blessed with a regal endorsement
With cracking roar makes his statement.

Undisputed king of his terrain
Predator that should not be enchained
From illegal poaching abstain
Their survival major campaign
To preserve, conserve and sustain.

  1. Lions are so regal and graceful and this was such a beautiful poem about these magnificent cats. Who better to write about The King of the Jungle than The Queen of Poetry. Beautiful lines describing who they are, how they are and what they are….majestic Yassy!!🌹

  2. Thank you Yassy that was beautiful and from the heart.
If you have ever observed and looked into the eyes of a Lion in the true wilds of Africa then the expression of this King speaks of utter forlorn hope and a desperation that has all but killed any memory, even erasing frustration in the repressive imprisoned annihilation of his spirit, leaving behind this pale glassy-eyed walking shadow of a once glorious, majestic, free and wild sentient being of immense power, earth-vibrating roar and fearless courage. And if you don’t imprison them then they are hunted and shot for a trophy or their habitat is destroyed because humans have more important things to do with the land. Despicable actions by twisted, sick minds!
