Pyrrhic

arithematics of war
casualties raise number bar
genocide of the people
humanity becomes a cripple
peace encrypted
brutality depicted
annihilation decoded
political aphorism encoded
civilians under siege
chemicals, incendiary besiege
wide-eyed watching the offense
civilization without defense
splintered battered conflict
generations ruined, pyrrhic afflict
if there was hell on earth
one must see Syria's hearth.

      1. Syria and so many other places. It’s a pity you can’t be President of Earth, Lady Yasmin. It’s about time someone with a bit of compassion was in charge.

      2. Yes, it’s not only Syria. It’s everywhere , actually.
Well, if I had my way , I would elect my favourite musician and poet and lyricist to be Mr.President.
And Lord Zoolon would make an awesome leader for all of humanity.

  1. We watch helplessly as hell is elected in the west, re-elected in the north, sows untold destruction in the middle east and is extended in the far east…
Time is now, for all humanity to drop the political correctness, the diplomatic obfuscation of the truth, and say it as it is for all to see and comprehend, and come together to put an end to this insanity.

    1. I wish they would hear you . I feel we are in the Middle Ages ! Why can’t these powers that be understand that all of this earth including them will go down.

  2. Roger McGuinn and Barry McGuire: line up at Yassy’s feet to plead to write the music to your version of her “DoomAclyptic” tune. Eve of Destruction meets – oh, drat, longterm memory eludes all but our famous Mt. Dora resident and PBS-tv pledge guest’s iconic tune. Will have a late beer and recall all, your ladyship. May I steal?

  3. Powerful and poignant poetry yassy. It seems many governments are happy to turn a blind eye to conflicts like this. Each one of your words is a prayer for a life lost.

  4. The price of war they say. Sometimes you have to do what’s wrong to do what’s right, is that how the saying goes? Humanity does need a new mindset dear Yassy, a beautiful one like you. This is a call it like it is write up, you see the world.
