flowers no longer bloom
in this battlefield..
in the shadows of sacrifice
grief is the warrior
that stumbles paralysed
from the souls’ of veterans
who braved the war
carrying their tombstones
under a stained sun,
its rays dying on
a cenotaph..

silently they lie
only memories etch their
immobilized lives..

  1. Kudos to Yassy for this great poetry work. The cenotaph in my city stand tall at a junction where four roads meets. I bless their souls anytime I pass by it, knowing that they sacrifice their lives for the course of the people. Peace be upon the souls of the fallen heroes as their evergreen memories lives.
